Introductory dives

Let our experienced instructors guide you through the basics of scuba diving. You will enjoy the thrill of diving for the first time in the clear waters of Lifou where you will be enthralled by the beauty of live corals and colorful fish. You might even see a turtle or baby shark! At the end of your dive you will receive a wall certificate as a souvenir of your first breaths underwater.

LAGOON SAFARIS offers all levels of training from PADI Scuba Diver right through to PADI Assistant Instructor, including Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, Adventure Diver, Rescue Diver and Divemaster. We also offer a large selection of PADI specialities.

Fundives

We organize half-day two tank dive trips to the reefs most days of the week. Each dive lasts approximately 45 minutes with a surface interval of at least 1 hour during which you can enjoy tea and biscuits while reliving the highlights of the dives with your fellow divers. Most of our dives are drift dives with priority on the safety and comfort of our guests. We also organize outings with one dive, usually to one of the nearby dive sites where it is usual to see turtles and small sharks and impressive numbers and varieties of fish.

Night dives

If you have never tried diving at night, you will be amazed by the variety of life you can discover on a night dive. A well known dive site becomes a new experience with colorful parrot fish sleeping gently in their cocoons, turtles and all kinds of shells and other nocturnal creatures which are rarely seen in the daytime. Lifou is one of few places where it is not unusual to see a nautilus in its’ natural environment.

Lagoon Adventures is a 9m60 BWA powered by twin 4 stroke 200 hp Suzuki outboards. This comfortable, custom built semi-rigid dive boat will get you to the best dive sites in record time. Although this boat is authorised for 18 divers, we limit the number to 12 for the added confort of our guests.

Eclat de Mer, a 6m50 Lomac semi-rigid dive boat powered by a single 4 stroke 175 hp Suzuki outboard, is ideal for groups of less than 6 divers.

Tomoko Point

Tomoko Point is a maze of tunnels through the reef where the sun’s rays illuminate superb orange fan corals. You will see lobsters, myriads of small fish and the occasional shark before finishing your dive on a beautiful untouched coral reef. It is not uncommon to see passing manta rays or eagle rays. This dive site which is 6 miles from our base is suitable for intermediate to experienced divers. The maximum depth is around 20 meters although confirmed divers often go deeper. The ambiance of this dive is appreciated by photographers.

Shoji Reef

Shoji Reef is a forest of fan corals and soft corals. The current, which can get quite strong, makes this a drift dive suitable for more experienced divers. It is usual to see schools of grey reef sharks, trevally, tuna and barracuda. You can also see the occasional hammerhead shark, manta ray or eagle ray playing in the current. This dive site is around seven miles from our base and the depth is between 18 and 30 meters.

Location: In the pretty tribal village of Easo, with Sandalwood Bay as its backdrop and a stone's throw from Notre Dame de Lourdes chapel and the beach, this small tribal village homestay is full of charm.

Capacity: 5 thatched huts for 4 people (BYO sleeping bag), 1 traditional hut (10 people), campsite and communal amenities block with hot showers.

Service: Soap and towels provided for an additional fee.

Restaurant: Local dishes, bougna (minimum 2 people). Bookings 24 hours in advance are recommended.

Excursions: Underwater fishing or angling, tours (caves, Notre Dame de Lourdes chapel, St François Xavier church).

Activities: Sea kayak hire. Outrigger canoe trip to Easo Bay and Jinek.
